envoy enterprises is proud to announce an expansion of its gallery space opening on September 13, 2012 located on 87 Rivington St. Furnished with a 2,500 square-foot duplex, the new venue will serve as a central exhibition space for the gallery’s upcoming fall program happening concurrently with a special projects schedule operating from envoy’s original 131 Chrystie St. location.
"The whole purpose of the new space is to give artists the opportunity to show work that they would not normally have the option of presenting. It encourages everyone to get more creative and have fun,” explains Jimi Dams.
Desi Santiago will inaugurate 87 Rivington St. with “This Pop is Perfection,” the debut of a sculptural environment comprised of new video, miniature robots, custom-made suits, and masks.
envoy enterprises was founded by Jimi Dams in 2005. The gallery was first located in Chelsea and re-located to 131 Chrystie St. in the Lower East Side in 2007. The gallery represents a cross-generational group of international artists with mufti-disciplinary practices and works for the long-term development of each artist’s career. envoy enterprises acts as a public space in which it offers visitors challenging exhibitions. It also functions as a think-tank and has a strong emphasis in cross-disciplinary programming that incorporates new media, music, and performance.
